"links"More people realize the importance of having a financial plan.  Want to hear the crazy part?  The main reason given for not having a plan in place is a lack of funds.  So what comes first, the chicken or the egg?  But seriously folks, if you don’t create a plan, how are you going to amass the savings required to fuel your retirement.  And just because you feel like putting money aside is impossible, it doesn’t mean you should give up altogether.  So with the RRSP season coming to a close in Canada, I thought it worthwhile to provide a HUGE list of online retirement planning resources.  While they are not in any particular order of importance, I do have some additional details on several of them.  Here is the first part of the list:

Types of Online Retirement Planning Resources

Many of the sites listed are provided by Government authorities.  Some are intended to help you plan, others tell you the rules in place to tax your income.  Some are provided by Non-profit organizations that exist to protect seniors, eg AARP, or all consumers, ex. BBB.  There are several provided by Academic think tanks are universities around the globe.  The mother load are designed and driven by Financial institutions who want your business, more on their examples later.  Even more are Sales driven by everytime of business under the sun: software companies, consultants, financial advisors, etc. All in hopes to cash in on the revenues available for services rendered.  There are a growing number of blogs, websites like this one whose goal is to share information.  While our is cost free, others have been produced by main stream media and other who charge for access to their information, I wonder if it’s worth it?  The last type of Online Retirement Planning resource I have noticed is a catch all: Dubious.  Be careful for the sharks out there.  Where ever there is money to be made, there will be those out to rape and pillage an unsuspecting audience.  Here is the next part of the list:
